Job Description

Finance Management:

§  Lead the development of the Network’s finance policies, related procedures and setting up of appropriate GCNK’s accounting systems.

§  Provide accounts receivables support including invoicing for participant annual fees and events-related fees, assisting with follow-up of outstanding accounts and ensuring that GCNK is set up on external vendor systems when required.

§  Preparation of monthly cashflow projections and quarterly organizational forecasts to shore up the company’s cashflow position, to ensure that there is a balance between investments and availability of cash to fund operational activities.

§  Preparation and presentation of the monthly management accounts and reports, review, and analysis of the same, as well as carrying out the monthly balance sheet reconciliations.

§   Ensuring that all relevant statutory deductions are filed and remitted to the relevant government agencies monthly as well as filing of all tax-related issues (VAT, WHT, WHVAT, Annual corporate income taxes).

§  Take lead in producing the final accounts in readiness for the annual statutory audit report as well as take lead in all project audits and ensure that they not only run smoothly but that the reports are also unqualified.

§  Schedule and facilitate smooth and timely audits for legal and regulatory compliance.

§  Take lead in consolidating the organizational budget and fact-checking the same before review and approval by the Board.

§  Cost management and accounting to ensure that costs are charged to the correct budget lines and within approved limits.

§  Assist with expense management, including end of month reconciliations

§  Carry out monthly and YTD costs and budget variance analysis and provide reasons for any variances

§  Ensure that all donor and project-related funds are used appropriately as per approved grant agreements and all financial donor reports are presented to donors as and when they fall due.

§  Cultivate and maintain a good relationship with relevant finance partners, such as Banks, Global Compact Foundation, and other stakeholders.

 


Job Responsibilities

Operations Management

§  Lead the design and improvement of systems and processes that will enable the GCNK to have efficient operations

§  Lead the development and implementation of guidelines and processes that streamline administrative tasks and supports effective team outcomes.

§  Work with the Executive Director to monitor and manage administration and office costs effectively and to report quarterly on the budget.

§  Support data collection to track team progress against GCNK’s activities and key metrics for reporting to the Board & other stakeholders.

§  Provide general team administrative support including procurement of goods and services and travel arrangements to aid the delivery of GCNK activities and responding to administrative queries from the GCNK team.

§  Management of various service providers including GCNK’s landlord/ property manager to ensure outsourced services are delivered to the standard required.

§  Work alongside the GCNK team, when required, to assist with the organization of GCNK’s major events, this might include the booking of venues, accommodation, travel, and supporting the delivery of conference materials.

§  Any other tasks as may be delegated by the Executive Director

Requirements:

Qualifications:

                    I.            Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting or Finance Option) or Equivalent (MBA is an added advantage).

                  II.            Holder of CPA (K) or Equivalent

                III.            Sound knowledge of general accounting principles, regulatory standards, and compliance requirements

                IV.            Proficiency in MS Office, including the ability to operate computerized accounting and spreadsheet programs

                  V.            Experience in financial oversight of donor funded projects

                VI.            At least five (5) years’ relevant work experience in a management level position in Finance and operations roles with a comparable organization

              VII.            Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.

            VIII.            Ability to generate respect and trust from staff and external constituencies.
